The Telegraph - Alton, IL., Friday, December 20, 2002 MEDORA - Pearl D. Gross, 90, died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The son of the late Joseph Curtis and Hattie Bell (Bowers) Gross, he was born Oct. 8, 1912, in Jersey County. He married the former Minta Jane Brooks Oct. 27, 1931, in Jerseyville. She survives. A life-long area resident, he was engaged in farming. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Shirley Bowman of Medora; one son, Dwight Gross of Carlinville; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Moran of Roodhouse and Dorothy Rigsby of Brighton; and two brothers, Delbert Gross of Medora and Bob Gross of Texas. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester, Alvin, Bud and William Leroy Gross. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Targhetta Funeral Home in Medora, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Reverends Chuck Keene and Jeff Feagins officiating. Burial will be at Kane Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Medora Unit of Area Ambulance Service or the Medora Fire Department.
