Jersey Girl Dies of Rare Malady
Death of Wanda Mae Brooks, 12 year old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Ray Brooks at the family residence four miles west of Medora, occurred Sunday at 10 o'clock p.m., following a 2 years' illness with a rare malady known as Hodgkin's disease. The immediate cause was ascribed to pneumonia. Every effort had been made to combat the ailment and the progress of the case was watched closely by a number of physicians.
Miss Wanda was formerly a popular pupil of the Franklin school and had a large circle of friends in the district in which she lived.
She is survived by her parents, four brothers, Everett L. Brooks, of Roseville, IL, Ralph Brooks of Kane, Clarence Brooks of Rockbridge, and Howard Brooks at home; two sisters, Mrs. Minta Jane Gross of Ruyle township and Miss Elsie Brooks at home.
Funeral services were held from the residence on Wednesday, October 31, followed by interment in Kane cemetery.
