"VFW conducted a funeral service at the grave at the Phelps Cemetery last Saturday for Luther Jones, aged 65 yrs., a member of the VFW and Spanish War Veterans. Three volleys of shots were fired over the grave by a firing squad and taps were blown."

Discharge: Early discharge due to "permanent removal from company station"
Remarks: Character excellent, service honest and faithful.

Luther Alfred Jones applied for a pension from the US Department of Interior based on his service as a Private in Company B, 1st US Cavalry during the Spanish War. He was entitled to a rate of $8 per month to begin on 04 Sep 1912. Pension being for Chronic Diarrhea and resulting disease of rectum. This pension was granted on 14 Oct 1912.
