Died 12:25 p.m. Friday, July 21, 1989, in Pointe Coupee General Hospital, New Roads. He was 81, a native of Scott and resident of New Roads. He was a retired pharmacist. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Roads, noon Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Miles Walsh and Rev. Frank Uter. Entombment in St. Mary Mausoleum. Survived by wife, Katie Perry Sonnier, New Roads; four daughters, Edmey Anne Theriot, Covington, Kay Marie Romero, Paradise Valley, Ariz., Raye Catherine Casey, Lafayette, and Cleta Jackson, Mobile, Ala.; a brother, Hector Sonnier, Scott; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Paul Perry, Shawn Theriot, Raymond Lee Bessmertny, Michel Bessmertny and Pierre Romero. Honorary Pallbearers were Joseph G. Beaud, Joseph H. Cotton, Richard Glynn, Dr. Robert Helm, John M. Hess, J. Thomas Jewell, Edward J. Merrick, Ernest L. Morgan, Alfred A. Robinson, George Scheuermann, S.A. Smith, and J. Oliver Smith. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Niland's Funeral Service, Inc., New Roads, in charge of arrangements.
