Arthur Turner "Otto" Derseweh was born on December 12, 1896 in Ridgetop, Tennessee, the son of Fredrick Gottlieb "Fred" Derseweh (1848–1933) and Henrietta (Zeilka) Derseweh (1852–1941). {While his Death Certificate has his mother's maiden name as Zilke, his 1942 Delayed Certificate of Birth has it as Zeilkie.}

He was married about 1925 to Caroline Blanche "Callie" Smiley (9 Aug 1900–11 Oct 1992), the daughter of Ceibert Stephen Smiley (1850–1915) and Cordelia Ann "Delia" (Adcock) Smiley (1861–1959).

On his Death Certificate, his occupation was listed as "Money Order Finance" for "U.S. Mails" while in the 1940 census, he was listed as a cashier for the post office. Living at 811 Stockell Street in Nashville, Otto was 63 years old and married when he had a heart attack and died at Mid-State Baptist Hospital on May 20, 1960. Burial was two days later in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Goodlettsville.

Much of the above is from his Death Certificate, with someone at 811 Stockell Street as the informant.

Known child of Otto and Callie:
~ James Robert Derseweh (22 Dec 1927–15 Aug 1990) m Helen "Laverne" Selph
~ Anne Elizabeth Derseweh (8 Jun 1933–2013) died in GA; m John F Caldwell Jr
