James Upshur Dennis. Baltimore attorney, died last night around 9 o'clock at his home in the Allston Apartments, on North Charles street. He had been in declining health for two years and had been seriously ill for two months.
Mr. Dennis was born in Kingston, Somerset county, July 25, 1870, the youngest son of the late United States Senator George Robertson Dennis and Mrs. Ellen Rebecca Johnston Dennis.

He was educated at Blair Academy, Blairstown, and the University of Maryland law school, where he was graduated in 1805.
After he received his license, he came to Baltimore to practice law, and for more than twenty years he taught a personal-property course in the University of Maryland law school. He was closely associated with the medical and chirurgical faculty of the university.
He was a member of the American Bar Association, the Maryland Bar Association and the Baltimore Bar Association.
Funeral Thursday
Mr. Dennis married Miss Louise Craig, of Cambridge, who died about six years ago. Surviving in the immediate family is one daughter, Miss Ellen Johnston Dennis, of New York, who was with him at the time of his death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at St. David's Protestant Episcopal Church, on Roland avenue, Roland Park.
