Hugh Callen died Friday. Mr. Callen was a well known citizen of this community having lived here all his life, was born September 20, 1872, near Sligo, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Callen, was married to Miss Mary E. Peters on January 31, 1893. She died February 19, 1925.

He is survived by four children, namely Raymond, Sligo; Mrs. Twila Fleming of Mayport; Mrs. Bertha Shaw, of Pittsburgh; and Donald, at home. Also by his stepmother, Mrs. Rose Callen of Sligo. One brother and three sisters, C.E. Callen of Kittanning; Mrs. D.R. Bashline, Mrs. J.E. Over, of Sligo, and Mrs. W.E. Seifert of St. Charles. He was a member of the M.E. church at Sligo.

Also a member of the R.M. Felt Bible class of the Methodist Episcopal Sunday school. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the home. Rev. Milton Thomas officiating.

Interment was in Sligo cemetery.

A feeling of sadness cast over our village when the news of Mr. Hugh Callen's serious illness became known Monday morning of last week. Mr. Callen had not been well for several months but his condition was not considered serious until last Sunday afternoon when the attending physician advised an immediate operation. He was taken to Brookville and underwent an operation on Monday morning and cancer was found in the bowels and his condition was serious. He expired on Friday, February 8, at 11:45.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Callen, who have preceded him in death. On January 31, 1893, he was married to Miss Mary E. Peters who died February 19, 1925, and those left to survive the loss of a dear devoted and loving father, who will long cherish his kind constant care and master mind are: Raymond of Sligo; Twila Fleming of Mayport; Bertha Shaw of Pittsburgh and Donald at home.

He is also survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Rose Callen, and one brother, C. E. Callen of Kittanning and three sisters, Mrs. D. H. Bashline and Mrs. J. E. Over, of Sligo, and Mrs. W. E. Seifert of St. Charles, and a host of relatives and friends.

The high esteem in which he was held was spoken with flowers. The many emblems were beautiful. He was a member of the M. E. Church and R. M. Felt Bible Class of the M. E. Sunday School at Sligo. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Milton Thomas, pastor of the M. E. Church, officiating. Interment in the Sligo Cemetery.
