Wayne passed on at his home in Gray.

He was born in Wilton, the son of Guy and Stella Davenport Dyke and attended schools in the Farmington area.

He started working at a young age for his brother Wallace (Skip) Dyke at his filling station in Farmington. He then moved to Auburn and worked at Structural Concrete Corp. for a short time.

In 1963, he started working for Pike Industries - a dedicated career filled with personal achievement spanning 34 years, retiring in 2001. In the winter months, he performed seasonal work with the Maine Turnpike Authority over a span of 18 years.

He thoroughly enjoyed his antique and classic cars (buying and selling over a total of 66 cars and never lost a penny on any vehicle). His garages are a museum filled with automotive memorabilia, representing his love of the industry. He especially loved his antique gas pumps, which, when lit outside the garages, were there for everyone to admire. When not enjoying his collection of automobiles and antiques, he showed his 1964 Malibu SS at car shows, which earned him many trophies.

He was never without his sidekick, Petey, his Boston Terrier. Whether camping, cruising in the Malibu with his wife, Jinny on Tuesday nights or going to the dump, Petey was there. Wayne was also there if anyone needed anything. Didn't matter what it was, or where they needed it, he was there and would complete the task.

He married Virginia Heath on Oct. 12, 1963, in New Vineyard, and they made their home in Gray, where they raised their two children, Tori and Jody.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Virginia (Jinny); a daughter, Tori, and her husband, Terence (Terry) Nadeau, of Gray; a son, Jody, and his wife, Lisa Dyke, of Raymond; grandchildren, Benjamin and Heath Austin of Gray, Andrew and Caitlyn Dyke; stepgrandson, Zachary Vose of Raymond; brothers, Travis (Ted), and his wife, Sandra Starbird Dyke, of Wilton and Wallace (Skip), and his wife, Erlane, of Farmington; a sister, Doreen Watson of Gray; sister-in-law, Regina (Ginger) Dyke of Skowhegan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Guy and Stella Dyke; a sister, Caroleta Dyke; and brothers, Roy (Joe) and Guy (Shorty) Dyke.
