W. H. Halley, 79, Dies Saturday

BROWNFIELD, Jan. 17 (Special) – W. H. Dallas, 79. Outstanding citizen of Brownfield died in St. Mary's Hospital in Lubbock at 6:30 tonight after a brief illness.

Mr. Dallas, a member of the Presbyterian Church was Justice of Peace in Terry County at the time of his death and had held that office for several years.

He was a banker, having been president of Brownville State Bank from 1918 until his retirement in 1937. He and his wife lived at 401 East Cardwell Street in Brownsfield.

He was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital Wednesday, underwent major surgery Thursday and was thought to recovering normally until his condition worsened, especially Saturday afternoon.

The body was at Brownfield Funeral home, where funeral arrangements had not been made late tonight.

Survivors are the widow; two sons, James Harley Dallas, Brownfield’s Postmaster, and Clyde Dallas of Los Angeles, Caiif.; one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Johnson, Cushing. Okla.; one brother, George Dallas, Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Miss Stella Dallas, also of Kansas City.

He and his wife celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary last April 4.
