Mrs. Bolyard was born on Nov. 13, 1943, in Vandalia, the daughter of Fred Sr. and Margie (Cunningham) Schmitt. She married Elvy Gene Bolyard on Dec. 26, 1960; he preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 2009.
Karen retired from Owens-Brockway in Vandalia. She was a member of the I.A.M. Local 1613 until her stroke in 2005.
Her family will remember Karen for her giving nature, bubbly personality, homemade cookies, gifts and laughter.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Bolyard of Vandalia; sisters, Kathy Bogart and husband Kenny, Debby Woolsey, Jane Hawk and Barbara Atchley; brothers, David Schmitt and wife Lynn, and Terry Schmitt; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda England; and brother, Fred Schmitt Jr.
