He married Merle Jo-Ann Williams on Nov. 10, 1950, in Winchester, Va.
They lived in California, where he worked in Torrance as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. They moved to Idaho in 1992.
He was not a church goer on his own, but he attended the Grace Baptist Church with his wife.
She died in 1994.
He enjoyed his family and frequently visited his brother, sister and cousins at the Centerville High School reunions held yearly in June. He was an avid trapshooter and was on the California state team for many years. When he moved to Idaho, he began to hunt waterfowl and big game. He moved to Idaho to be near Yellowstone National Park. His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Joni (Preston) David of Fullerton, Calif., and Alexis (Doug) Siepert of Rexburg; a sister, Carol Ann Hinckley of Ohio; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, David Alan Bowser, two sisters and a brother.
Private family services are being planned through the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg.
