ELIN MARIE ARMSTRONG
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday [Feb 24] at the First Lutheran Church in Havre for Elin Marie Armstrong, 83, of Havre. She died Wednesday [Feb 19] at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery with the Holland & Bonine Funeral handling the arrangements. Mrs. Armstrong was born to Frederick and Amanda Kraftenberg on Sept. 5, 1902, in Belt and was raised there. She graduated from Belt High School and attended college in Dillon. After graduating from college, she taught school in the Havre area until she married Donald Armstrong, a carpenter by trade, on Aug. 21, 1927. She worked at Jacoby Rest Home and, during World War II, she was an air raid warden and worked with the Red Cross. She was a member of the Eagles Club, the First Lutheran Church and the Lois Circle at the church. She enjoyed Bible study, crocheting, gardening and visiting. She liked to do volunteer work and helped with the March of Dimes. She had lived at the Lutheran Home since March 3, 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband in May, 1968 and by a brother, George Kraftenberg and a grandson, Gordon Armstrong. Survivors include daughters, Lillian Kaleva of Havre and Dolly Farley of Lolo; sons David of Billings and Donald (Bill) of Whitefish; sisters, Tekla Winship of Seattle and Ebba Webb of Ronan; brothers, Edwin Kraftenberg of Lewistown and Fred Kraftenberg of Belt; 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
CORRECTION
In an obituary that appeared in Friday's Daily News for Elin Marie Armstrong, the name of a surviving sister was omitted. The sister was Martha Oja of Great Falls.
