Obituary.
Matilda Hamilton was born in Southern Kentucky, January 23, 1839. Died at South Haven, Kan., June 30, 1906, at the age of 67 years, 5 months, 7 days.
She was married to James P. Tolle, February 21, 1871, and with him moved to McPherson Co., Kansas, where they began a pioneer life in the first settlement of that part of the state. From there they moved to Arkansas where they resided for a short time, and from there to South Missouri and finally came to South Haven within the past few months.
She was the mother of four children, two of whom died in infancy. Her only daughter, Fidelia Florence, died in her 25th year. She is survived by her husband and only living son, Fred A. Tolle, who surely lament the loss of a devoted Christian wife and mother.
The deceased was converted in early life and identified herself with the M.E. church and has lived a consistent member in some branch of that church to the end of her earthly pilgrimage.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.J. Barron at the M.E. Church on the following day and her body laid to rest in the South Haven cemetery.
