Born to Robert and Joyce Helen Aduddell in Levelland, Texas, he lived a life with faith, patience, generosity and hard work as an exemplary role model to those who knew and loved him.

A 1970 graduate of Hobbs High School, during his school years he enjoyed 4-H, baseball, track, and football. His college education was interrupted by his U.S. Army service at Ft. Hood, Texas, where he met and married his wife, Jan, who was a new teacher in Killeen.

Upon completion of his service, he went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin, earning a BA degree in Architecture and BS in Structural Engineering. They moved to Houston in 1979, where he began and ended his career as a licensed structural engineer. He was a lead engineer of many notable Houston structures, including Minute Maid Field, Union Station Renovation (Houston Astros office, museum, and Sports Authority offices), One Allen Center, Greenway Plaza, NRG Stadium, Rice University's Jones and Martel Colleges, and the Harris County Fire and Sheriff Training Academy. His quiet manner, professionalism, and attention to detail earned the respect of colleagues, junior engineers he mentored, and his clients. He was a member of numerous professional organizations including ACI, American Institute of Steel Construction, Architectural Engineering Institute, and Structural Engineers Association.

Besides his career, he was a dedicated husband and father, and an adored papa. Always supportive of his children's activities including Boy Scouts, sports, and choir, he was a willing volunteer. He was always the first to jump in to help when someone needed it, financially or physically, even in his last years with Alzheimer’s.

Roger enjoyed travel, and in the years of his retirement, he loved being at his farm property in Buffalo, Texas, maintaining the property, hunting, fishing, gardening, and just enjoying time, frequently on the weekends, with grandson Jett.

Roger and Jan were members at Bammel Road Church of Christ, where he was a Bible class teacher and deacon, volunteering on many building projects and wherever he was needed. More recently he was a member at the Church of Christ in Champions.

Roger is predeceased by his father Rob, brother-in-law Gary Blakeney, and sister-in-law Cathy Aduddell. He is survived by his beloved wife Jan, two children: Jennifer Aduddell and husband, Josh Porter, Ryan Aduddell and wife, Laura, and adored grandchildren Jett Joshua, Brooke, Ethan, and Kinley Aduddell. He's also survived by his mother, Joyce Helen Waldrip, brother, Tom Aduddell and wife Sherry, sisters Robin Blakeney and Teresa Hollis, and aunt, Betty Colburn, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends, family, and others whose lives Roger touched are invited to celebrate his life at Church of Christ in Champions, 13902 Cutten Road, Houston, Texas 77069-2215, on Saturday, July 18, 2020. Family visitation at 11, memorial service at 12. Interment will be in the fall at Houston National Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Care Partners Texas, responsible for providing entertainment activities for Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients and their families. Our sincere thanks to the many wonderful volunteers and organizers who enriched both of our lives so much over the past three years. Care Partners Texas, 701 N. Post Oak Rd., Suite 330, Houston, Tx. 77024.
