DEACON PHILLIP HERRIOTT {70} "For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand, I fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4: 7-8 On Thursday morning January 11, 2018, God sent his Angel from Heaven to Vibra Hospital, Charleston, SC to bring his beloved servant, Deacon Phillip Herriott, affectionally known as "Mack" to his heavenly home on high for everlasting rest. Deacon Phillip was the epitome of a life well-lived because he devoted his life to God and family. He will be remembered as a pillar of his family, a man that could always be counted and depended on to be there to share love, wisdom and guidance. He has left an indelible mark on his family and has inspired all of us to continue strengthening the bonds of love and unity. Deacon Phillip Herriott was born October 24, 1947 to the late James Herriott and the late Rebecca Collins-Herriott on Sandy Island, SC. He attended Elementary School on Sandy Island until the 6th grade and completed his public school education at Howard High School in Georgetown, SC graduating in 1966. Deacon Phillip was a Stucco Mason by trade. He owned his own company, Herriott Masonry, Tile and Stucco, LLC. Deacon Phillip Herriott joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Sandy Island, SC in 1963. He was ordained Deacon on April 13, 1980 and served as Chairman of the Deacon Board from 1994 -2017. He also served faithfully on the Senior Choir, Male Chorus, Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer and in any other capacity when needed. He served as Deacon Ministry Director for the Missionary and Education Union #1 until his health failed. His Masonic affiliations include Past Master of Oceanview Lodge #325 and Past Patron of Oceanside Chapter #163 Order of the Eastern Star for the Jurisdiction of South Carolina. Deacon Phillip was united in holy matrimony to Hazel Stanley -Herriott February 25, 1971. This union was blessed with three {3} children. A daughter, Shelia Doretha Herriott preceded him in death; as well as four {4} sisters, Ruby Grant, Ethel Collier, Ida Bell Reid and Clennie Beaufort and five {5} brothers, Ezekiel Herriott, James Herriott, George Herriott, Joseph Herriott and Robert Lance. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving devoted wife of forty-seven {47} years Hazel Stanley-Herriott; a daughter, Rose Herriott and a son, Phillip Herriott Jr. both of Myrtle Beach, SC; three {3} grandchildren, Martina, Kayla and Ahmad of Myrtle Beach, SC; four {4} great-grandchildren, Tahbleek , Jamir , Jamarri and Jayceon of Myrtle Beach, SC; two {2} sisters, Viola Beaufort of Melbourne, FL. and Rebecca Young {Lawrence}of Columbus, OH; two {2} brothers, Deacon Benjamin L. Herriott {Betty Jo} of Myrtle Beach, SC and Deacon Fred {Colethia} Herriott of Goose Creek, SC; five {5} sister-in laws, Pandora Herriott of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ethel Herriott of Pawleys Island, SC, Sally Gore and Myrtle Bellamy of Calabash, NC, Selena Stanley of Tabor City, NC; three {3} brother -in laws, Ray Stanley, Sammy Jack Stanley, and Kenneth Stanley of Calabash, NC; two {2} adopted sons, Lorenzo Young of Myrtle Beach, SC and Isreal Herriott of Conway, SC and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, January 18, 2018 at New Bethel Baptist Church on Sandy Island. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel.
