John Clemens White, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed White was born in Mazomanie, August 15, 1887. He was the second oldest of nine children. On June 3, 1917, he was married to Miss Ruth Hale of Carrington, ND. Two daughters were born to this union. He died at St. Mary's hospital, Madison, November 6, 1932 with complications following pneumonia. Mr. White spent almost his entire life in Arena, with the exception of a few years when he proved up a claim in North Dakota. He was a World War veteran being called in 1917 and serving until 1918. Jack, as he was known to everyone in Arena, was of a kind disposition, a friend to all and one who commanded a host of friends. His familiar face and figure will be missed on the street and in his place of business. He was a member of St. John's Catholic church of Mill Creek, also a member of the Holy Name Society. He leaves his wife and two daughters, June and Marjory, his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed White, three sisters, Mrs. Lee Myers, Mrs. Frank Sheehan, Miss Mary White, all of Arena, four brothers, William of Eau Claire, James of Barneveld, Edward and Joe of Arena. One sister, Genevieve, having preceded him in death. Funeral services were held from St. Barnabas' church, Mazomanie, conducted by Rev. Spaeth. The American Legion Post No. 253 took part in the burial services. Interment was at the Arena cemetery.
