Ora M. "Terri" Shuman
Ora M. "Terri" Shuman, 78, of Amarillo died Wednesday, July 20, 2005.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the former San Jacinto United Methodist
Church at Sixth Avenue and Tennessee Street with the Rev. Steve Gains and the
Rev. Don Travis officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon.
Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Mrs. Shuman was born June 10, 1927, in Argonia, Summner County, Kan., to
Evelyn and Franklin Crites. She married J. Walter Carter on Jan. 22, 1948. He
preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1961. She married Walter Shuman Nov. 1,
1962, in Amarillo. Her friends knew her to be a devoted mother and wife who
loved her church, flower garden, crafts and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
The family would like to thank the Amarillo firemen at station No. 5 and the
Amarillo Medical Services for their fast response.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Marsha Mauldin and husband,
Bill, of Fort Smith, Ark., and Mrs. Claudette Bagot and husband, Dick, of
Amarillo; a son, Bruce Carter of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Covenant Fellowship, 1731 S. Avondale St.,
Amarillo, TX 79106; Texas Laureate Theta Upsilon, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority of
Amarillo, 3205 Rusk St., Amarillo, TX 79109; or BSA Hospice in care of
Olivia's Angels, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176-0001.
