Born February 8, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, Kenneth Richard Murphy was the second of two sons of Edwin Francis and Theresa Dolores (Tyrrell) Murphy. Growing up in New York City, Kenneth attended Fourteen Holy Martyrs grammar school. He was a graduate of Immaculata High School in New York City and St. John's University in Queens, NY.
In his youth, Kenneth enjoyed playing baseball. He would later pass along the love of this game to his boys as he coached their little league teams and became their number one fan. This devotion and support occurred both on and off the diamond.
Kenneth met the love of his life, Anna Teresa Monaghan, shortly after her arrival from Ireland in 1958. As the story unfolded, Kenneth and his older brother, John, married two sisters. Kenneth and Anna were married in Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Sunnyside, Queens, NY, on February 11, 1961, and were blessed with three sons, Daniel, Kenneth, and Michael.
Following his graduation from St. John's University, Kenneth served briefly in the U.S. Army and then began his business career with Columbian Carbon Company in New York City. He would later join Cities Service Oil Company, which relocated to Tulsa in 1973. Kenneth, Anna, and their three sons settled into a new home in Broken Arrow in August 1973. Kenneth would retire from Occidental Petroleum in 1995.
A man of faith, Kenneth was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Broken Arrow and later St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in Bixby.
When he wasn't working or playing ball with his boys, Kenneth could be found caring for his yard or close to the TV, likely watching as many major league baseball games as possible. In the off season, he was known to replay his favorite classic movies.
Throughout his lifetime, Kenneth was able to see and do so much. His work with Occidental found him traveling internationally, and of course, he and Anna visited Anna's Ireland home. But for Kenneth, there was no place like home, with his wife and sons.
Described as humble, intelligent, patient, meticulous, easy-going, and supportive, Kenneth loved selflessly and was certainly loved in return.

A private service will be held to honor and celebrate his life. He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Tulsa.
