Frances Evelyn Ramey
Frances Evelyn Ramey, 90, Chilhowee, died Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 2, at Consalus Funeral Home with burial at Englewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Shawnee Mound Cumberland Presbyterian Church and left in care of the funeral home.
Frances was born June 20, 1917, in Calhoun, Missouri, daughter of Allen and Ocie Brown Thomas. She married Lloyd Lee Ramey on March 14, 1938, and to this union three children were born: James Lee, Thomas Dale and Evelyn Joann. Lloyd preceded Frances in death on March 15, 1999, one day after their 60th wedding anniversary. Frances was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of '35 and an active and faithful member of the Shawnee Mound Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She belonged to the Shawnee Mound Ladies Aid and the Norris Neighborly Extension Club. For many years she was a 4-H leader teaching clothing, foods and gardening. In later years she enjoyed exhibiting items in various local and county fairs and received many blue and purple ribbons plus many other awards. In 1977, she was queen of the Henry County Extension Club. Fabric painting, gardening and quilting were also a few of the many things she enjoyed. In addition to her husband Lloyd, her parents, her sister, Wilma Starnes and a young son, Thomas Dale, preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, James Lee Ramey and wife Margaret, Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Joann Rankins and husband Dezell, Des Moines, Iowa; a grandson, who she raised, Randy Bysor and wife Christian; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
