Ruth Taylor 1913 - 2004

Ruth (Cox) Taylor, 91, St. Joseph, MO., died Saturday, April 24, 2004 at a local health care center.

Mrs. Taylor was a teacher for the St. Joseph School District for 40 years until retiring from Pershing School in 1976. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School and Northwest Missouri State University.

Born Feb. 18, 1913, in St. Joseph, MO., Ruth was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph.

On Dec 21, 1940, she married Duane E. Taylor. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1996.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Richard George and Cyra Etta (Armstrong) Cox; brother, Maxwell Cox; and sister, Barbara Ferbert.

She was a lifelong member of Maxwell Heights Presbyterian Church; she was a member of the State Retired Teacher's Association; a charter member of Alpha Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society; and a former member of the Daughters of American Revolution.

Survirors: a sister, Dorothy Slifer of Topeka, Kan. and nephews.

Service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service, St. Joseph. Interment: Maxwell Family Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service. The family suggest memorial gifts to Maxwell Heights Presbyterian Church.
