Husband of Amanda A. (Casebolt) Smith Luper (1864-1935), the widow of David H. Smith. Willis and Amanda were married on January 30, 1909 in Harrison County, Missouri. Willis' first wife was Margaret Ellen (Ennes) Luper (1844-1891). They were married on December 16, 1860 in Elm Springs, Washington, Arkansas. Willis was the son of Henry Allen Luper and Mary (Ivey) Luper. He was the father of at least ten children with his first wife, Margaret Ennes. They included: James Edward, William Henry, Albert C., Clarence Elmer, Mary A., Sarah Jane, Nancy, Hattie Lou, Harvey Augusta and John Arthur Luper. Willis was a Veteran of the Union Army in the Civil War. He enlisted as a Private in Co. C, 17th Kansas Infantry on July 28, 1864 at Emporia, Kansas and was mustered out on November 16. 1864 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
