Pelham A. Hildreth passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 19, 2013. He touched many lives with his gentle kindness for 94 blessed years. Mr. Hildreth was the son of the late Marvin J. Hildreth and Ola Kate Pelham Hildreth. He was preceded in death by his two brothers Marvin J. Hildreth, Jr. and Robert T. Hildreth and also his sister Gwendolyn H. Taylor. Mr. Hildreth is survived by his wife of 68 years Kathryn Davis Hildreth; his daughter, Kathryn Albano, and two grandsons, Jerry P. Albano, Jr. and Scott C. Albano. Mr. Hildreth graduated from Ensley High School and was pursuing a mechanical engineering degree from Auburn University when he joined the Great War effort. In World War II he served with squadron B 3502nd AFF Base Unit as a parachute rigger specialist for the United States Army. He also inspected, tested, and experimented with diverse types of parachutes, flying suits and other flying equipment. Upon being honorably discharged from the military, Mr. Hildreth worked for the United States Steel Corporation until his retirement. He was a member of Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church. Pastor Tom Parrish will be officiating at Mr. Hildreths Graveside Service at one oclock on December, 23, 2013 at Valhalla Cemetery.
