Mr. Claude Knighton was born on March 26, 1934. His proud parents were the late Sidney and Mamie Ward Knighton.
For many years, he was a member of Benevolence Baptist Church. There he served as President of the Senior Usher Board.
Claude enjoyed the bonds of holy matrimony for 52 years with his devoted wife Bishop Mary Knighton. Together they raised six daughters.
On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, Claude peacefully went to rest. He was preceded him in death by two daughters, Jacquelyn Moore and Margeretta Peak; his oldest grandson whom he raised as a son, Diedrick Harvey; and his siblings,Carl Knighton (Buddy), Lucile Knighton, Mattie Knighton Baldwin, Bertha Ree Knighton, Pat Knighton, Lucious Knighton (Luke); Coley Pompie Knighton (Bro); William Knighton (Son); Arthur Knighton (Sapp); Pinkie Ella Knighton Lawson (Pink); Claude Knighton (Bay); Mamie Baldwin Smith (Pie - Niece); and Annie Lee Knighton (Big Gal).
