Father Venard left his mark in Puerto Rico where he spent 40 years of active ministry. His genuine friendliness and free spirit approach to life made him know far and wide, especially in the old city of San Juan. Beyond his parish ministry, Venard carried on an Sunday bi-lingual radio program, founded Capuchin Charities as a means to help the impoverished and the National Center for the Arts for the education of the under served, was chaplain at a rehabilitation center for people with addictions, and served as a support chaplain the United States Military. A street was named for him in the La Perla section of the city where he worked with the homeless. When a long drawn out hotel strike was finally settled, the TV news footage showed the negotiators walking out of the meeting with none other than El Padre Venard in their midst. Someone watching remarked: "Who else could pull it off other than Venrad?" Rightly it was said of Venard: "To meet him was to remember him!"
