Chilton, WI

G.W. ""Jerry"" Propson, age 57, of Chilton, passed away March 9, 2012 at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Jerry was born April 24, 1954, son of Theodore and Viola (Goeser) Propson. He was united in marriage to Debra Kobussen on June 22, 1974 and was the proud father of their son, Adam. He graduated from Chilton High School in 1972, the American Institute of Banking 1976, the Midwest Banking Institute 1978, Wisconsin Bankers Association General Banking and Commercial Lending Schools in 1987 and 1988. Jerry loved the City of Chilton and all of it's people. This was where Jerry made his banking career for over 39 years. His banking expertise helped countless individuals in the area achieve their goals and their dreams; he continually sought perfection and his high standards were a blessing to those who came to him for their lending needs. Jerry was very involved in community and professional associations. He had served as the president of the Fox Cities Chapter of the American Institute of Banking from 1982 until 1983. He was a member of the Chilton Fire Department, Chilton Optimists, Chilton Chamber of Commerce, Chilton United Fund and was a founding member of the Chilton Lions Club. Jerry served as Chairman of the Calumet County Salvation Army Service Extension Unit for over 20 years. His dedication to his community made him the recipient of the Salvation Army Service Extension Volunteer of the Year Award in 2000. Jerry also served on the board of the Chilton Area Development Authority and the RDA loan committee. If it was warm enough and the weather fair enough, Jerry could be found playing a round of golf at Hickory Hills in his free time. He also served as the treasurer of their Thursday Men's Club for over 20 years. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and sturgeon spearing. Jerry had a passion for gourmet cooking and became addicted to everything Food Network; there wasn't a recipe too difficult on their network or website that he wouldn't successfully make. Jerry was a good friend to all he met and enjoyed every moment of conversation he had. He was passionate about his worldviews, and if you asked him, he found himself to be right very frequently. Above all other things, Jerry loved spending time with his family. His love was shown in his life and in his actions, whether he was preparing the next prank to pull on Debbie, talking highly of his son and favorite daughter-in-law, or playing pirates with his grandsons. Jerry is survived by his wife of 37 years: Debbie; his son: Adam (Melissa) Propson; and his grandsons: Connor & Carter, all of Chilton. He is also survived by his mother: Viola of Marquette, MI, sisters: Diane (Dave) Giddens of Marquette, MI, Patti (Jim) McCoy of Hilbert; his brother: Ken (Peggy) Propson of Sherwood; sisters-in-law: Kathi (Bill) Hoff of Chilton, Penny Scot of DePere and Vicki Kobussen of New Holstein. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his father: Ted; a brother-in-law: Mike Kobussen; and his mother-in-law: Nancie VanGrinsven. Funeral service will be at 7:30 PM on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 15, 2012. Memorials are appreciated in the name of G.W. ""Jerry"" Propson.
