Bessie VonHemel, 91, died Saturday at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born April 12, 1881 in Kingman Kansas. (1910 census shows she was born in Indiana) She married Pete VonHemel June 7, 1903, at Kingman. He died in 1945. She lived in Manter, Kansas since 1907.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Johnson, Kansas.
Survivors include sons: Ernest, Henry, Ross, Manter, Roy, Pueblo, Colorado; daughters: Mrs. Gladys Hammond, Johnson; Mrs. Opal Goodman, Lamar, Colorado, Mrs. Nellie Wilkerson, Mrs. Ethel Creamer, Mrs. Velda Creamer, and Mrs. Hazel Wilkerson, all from Manter, Kansas.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church; Rev. Bill Sutton. Burial will be in the Johnson Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips Mortuary, Ulysses.
