Curtis V. Main, Portage, Michigan, age 91, passed away April 13, 2016.

Curtis was born January 31, 1925 in Battle Creek to the late Verner W. and Rose (Hoppin) Main. Upon graduation from high school he enrolled at the University of Michigan and after two and a half years of college he was drafted into the U.S. Navy where he served our country honorably until his discharge in 1946. After leaving the military he continued his education at U of M and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He was a long-time member of the Lansing Lions Club and prior to that a member of the Kiwanis Club of Battle Creek. Curtis traveled to every state in the union and visited many countries around the world.

On June 15, 1946, Curtis married Carol V. (Johnson) Main, who preceded him in death on August 26, 2010. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Marcia Williams and Janet Polack; brothers, Stuart and Verner Main and son in-law, Bruce Kelly.

Curtis loved all things outdoors, including skiing, boating and fishing. He especially enjoyed trips to his Northern Michigan cottage on the Platte River.

Curtis is survived by his children, Melinda (Robert Hitchcock), Kathleen (John) Kurfess and William (Kathleen) Main; eight grandchildren, Noah (Edwin Amaya) Kelly, Megan (Tyler) Glidden and Nathan (Elise Kranz) Kelly, William (Jennifer Gustafson) and Edward (Hailey) Kurfess, Brian (Sheryl), Matthew (Angela) and Justin (Elizabeth) Main; six great-grandchildren and special friend, June Newtson.

In accordance with his wishes, his body was willed to the Anatomical Donations Program at the University of Michigan.
