The second wife of Rev. Benjamin F. Butts.

She died at the age of 49 yrs. 8 mos. 12 days in New York and her body was shipped to Columbus, Kansas from New Jersey.

Columbus Daily Advocate, April 7, 1919.

"The body of Mrs. Mary Rawlings Butts, who died in Nyack, N.J. on April 4th, was brought here this morning for burial. The funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. Butts is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rawlings, who live north of Columbus. She is also a sister of Mrs. John Lucas of this city.

Mrs. Butts was forty-nine years old and was quite prominent in social welfare and evangelist work. She often assisted her husband in his evangelistic meetings and was the author of several books on Bible study and short stories for children.

Mr. and Mrs. Butts were missionaries for the Presbyterian Synod of Michigan for a number of years and at the present time he is a Y.M.C.A. secretary at Camp Merritt."
