Dallas Wayne “Red” Barnes, 90, of Asher, Oklahoma passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 in Seminole.
He was born July 20, 1929 to Ralph and Dulsie (Dawson) Barnes in Harrah, Oklahoma.
Red was raised in Asher and graduated from Asher High School.
He married Audrey Celestean Cooper on July 20, 1949 in Asher, Oklahoma. Red was a member of the Tecumseh Fire Department for many years. He worked at Sanders Lab, McCoy Tree Service and operated and managed the Phillips 66 in Asher until his retirement.
Red was a faithful member of the Avoca Church of Christ where he taught and preached over the course of many years. He enjoyed visiting people in the area nursing homes and hospitals, and has preached many of the funerals for Avoca Church of Christ members. He also enjoyed playing golf, working in the yard and making walking sticks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Celestean Barnes; his parents; and 2 sisters, Rosalee Rich and June Blooding.
Survivors include his daughter, Christy (Barnes) Dickerson; grandsons, Chad Dickerson and Todd Dickerson and wife, Andee; great grandchildren, Bradford and Brady Dickerson; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family has designated St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 as appropriate for memorials in lieu of flowers.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2020 and continue through service time. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2020 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Newell and Larry Sneed officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
