Mrs. Eliza Janet (Nettie) Birkenholz, 87 years of age, died at 11:20 o'clock Sunday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oscar V. Pugsley of Maryville. She had spent her entire life in Nodaway county with the exception of 16 months in South Dakota. She had made her home with her daughter the last year and had only been ill one day. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Price funeral home. Dr. Walter B. Morgan will conduct the services. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery at Maryville.
She was born July 10, 1861, the eldest daughter of the late Mr. Charles S. and Sarah E. Hawkins Neal. She was married March 13, 1884, to Leander Birkenholz. He died September 26, 1928.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Pugsley, Maryville; Mrs. Andrew Hansen, Conception Junction, and Mrs. Oland E. Ringold, Maryville; four sons, Charles A. Birkenholz and Roland Jewell Birkenholz, Pickering; J. Fred Birkenholz, Gilman, Wisconsin; and William F. Birkenholz, Cresham, Oregon; two sisters, Mrs. Alfred Jones, Maryville, and Mrs. Charles Holt, Ravenwood; two brothers, W. B. Neal, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and A. T. Neal, Rockport, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
