Clyde LaVerne Livingston, 78, of Macon, MO, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at the Boone County Medical Center in Columbia, MO.
Clyde was born on August 31, 1941, in Sullivan County, MO, the son of Carl and Gladys (Stiles) Livingston. He was united in marriage to Roberta Bailey on August 14, 1965.
Clyde is survived by his wife Roberta Livingston of the home; three children, Carl Jay Livingston and his wife Shelly of Bevier, MO, Connie Shaver and her husband Scott of Farmington, MO, and Beth Brower and her husband Donald of Macon; six grandchildren, Dalton Livingston and his wife Britni, Peyton Livingston, Jacob and Jessie Shaver, Sophia and Coleson Brower; two great grandchildren, Knox and Rhys Livingston; two brothers, Ralph Livingston and companion, Jeanie Houpt of Bevier, Kenny Livingston and his wife Debbie of Macon; and several nieces, nephews, in-laws and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Joshua Rhodes; and one sister, Thelma Louise Allen.
Clyde attended Economy country school and graduated from Atlanta High School in 1959. He joined the United States Army in 1961 and served two years. After marriage, he gained employment at AECI retiring after 34 years. After retirement, he worked for Macon County as a motor grader operator for five years.
Clyde enjoyed the simple good things in life: family, hard work and a good joke, preferably told by him. He drew great pleasure watching his cattle and working his farm. He never did shirk from a hard day’s work. Clyde enjoyed visiting with people whether at the sale barn, the Wellness Center or at a ballgame to name a few. Family meant everything to him. He especially looked forward to the annual Livingston reunion. Clyde was one of a kind and his boots will never be filled. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Friday, June 19, 2020, at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the New Addition of Oakwood Cemetery in Bevier. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, on Thursday evening, at the funeral home in Macon. The family suggests memorials to the Randy Johnson Memorial Fund.
At the funeral we learned Clyde had a nickname, Chigger, given to him from his friends at the Cardio Rehab Unit. This stemmed from him being covered with them during some fence repair. I’ll miss Clyde...
