James Pelton passed away August 21, 2007 after a bravely fought battle with prostate cancer lasting 18 years. He was born in Mexia, Texas May 11, 1934 to James Isaac Pelton Sr. and Nellie Olene Pelton. His family moved to Kerrville when he was a young boy. He graduated from Tivy High School in 1953. He enlisted in the Army and served in Korea and Japan. After returning from the service, he moved to Corpus Christi to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until he retired in 1987. He met and married his first wife Glenda Brown in 1960. They moved to Ingleside where his four daughters were born. Jim moved his family to Corpus Christi in 1970. Glenda passed away in 1988. Then he met and married Jo Allie Bray in 1990 who now survives him and resides in Austin where they had recently moved. They spent a good deal of time in Camp Wood near Jim's ranch, a place he dearly loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Homer Oscar Pelton, two sisters, Jewel Lorene Chisum, and Fay Nell Medord. He is survived by his wife, Jo Allie Pelton; four daughters; Karen Lee Schreck (Robert), Sharyn Marie Gonzalez (Vincent), Cheryl Lynette Lutz (Alan), and Lori Anne Bennett (Derek), and three stepchildren; Don Bray, Susan Al-taher (Jordan), and Chris Guest (Matt), 19 grandchildren and one great grandson.

It was a rare day when Jim wasn't doing a favor for his family or friends. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

Visitation was held at Seaside Funeral Home.

Interment followed at Seaside Memorial Park.
