Son of William and Sarah (McKee) Davis. Born in Pennsylvania. Parents were early members of the LDS chuch and were in Nauvoo, Illinois in 1846. Emigrated to Utah in 1848. Married to Charlotte Condett on 11 Dec 1851 at Salt Lake City, Utah. Early settlers of Brigham City, Utah. Emigrated to California by mid-1850s, listed in voter and census records in Eden Township, Alameda, CA until at least 1870. Emigrated to Tarrant County, Texas by 1874. Married to Mary Elizabeth Oliver on 4 March 1876. Fifteen known children

Here's the interesting part - he died 30 Dec. 1907 (not 1897) according to the Texas Death Records and he was listed in the 1900 Census. I keep looking at those grave photos wondering if the headstones were put in later and not at the time of death and they got the year wrong.

Joseph had a really fascinating life and one of the puzzles for us is when did he leave the LDS church - we have some indication that it might have been when he went to California with his wife's siblings since it was about the time that his father took a second wife.

Info given by Carol Branscome--Thanks.
