Casketbearers were Chad Bietz, Brett Maag, Clyde Ziegler, Glen Ziegler, Tim Weisz and David Schmidt.
Juanita Bernice (Weisz) Maag was born on December 19, 1929, at home in rural Hutchinson County. Her parents were William and Luella (Lippert) Weisz. She graduated from the eighth grade from a rural country school north of Olivet.
Her family later moved to a farm south of Tripp. She worked for area neighbors as a nanny and helping with chores. She also worked for several years at Weber's Grocery Store in Tripp.
She married Lothar Maag on June 7, 1953, at Tripp, where they farmed all their married lives.
She was a member of Friedens Reformed Church and the Friedens Women's Guild for many years.
She died on Thursday evening, Aug. 16, at the Tripp Good Samaritan Center at the age of 77 years, seven months, and 27 days.
She is survived by her five children, Terry (Hope) Maag, Tripp, Cheryl (Mike) Coyle, Springfield, Karen (Francis) Froehlich, Tripp, Kenny Maag, Yankton, and Todd Maag, Tripp; six grandchildren, Chad, Brett, Jenna, Sara, Brittany and Emma; sister, Velvejane (Robert) Sopoci, Columbus, Neb.; two brothers, Wilbert (Joyce) Weisz, Columbus, Neb., and Howard (Sandy) Weisz, Mitchell; and sister-in-law, Luella (Maag) Sprecher, Sioux Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lothar, on July 16, 2004; a grandson, Brian; her parents; a sister, Eldora; two brothers-in-law; three nephews; and a niece.
