Born to Henry Patrick Stephens and Ellen Emma Sanders. She had 6 brothers and 1 sister. Her brothers were David Jefferson, Noah Daniel, Taylor Patrick, Henry T., William Perry and Thomas Roda. Her sister was Ivie Stephens Duncan.


Nancy married Charles A. Pair when she was about 18 and he was 20. They had 3 boys, Roy Lee, Hugh Furman and Charles Lincoln. Charles A. died in 1901 of typhoid fever, 4 months before Charles Lincoln was born. Nancy and Charles Lincoln moved to Atlanta To live with her brother Noah Stephens and his family. The older boys moved in with other uncles. Hugh moved in with Henry T. Stephens and Lee Roy moved in with Thomas R. Stephens.


She later married Andrew B. Brownlow who died in 1936. She married a third time to Andrew's older brother Enoch who later died in 1944. She stayed an integral part of the Pair And Stephens family until her passing in 1953.
