SIMON JONAS (5-1-6-2-1-5) b. 21 May 1826; bp. 30 Jul 1826 at Bowers, sponsors Abraham and Maria Bieber.

1830 - Male under 5 in census for father in Longswamp 101101/011001001.

1840 - Male 10-15 in census for father in Manheim Twp., Schuylkill Co., PA.

1850 - Census for Schuylkill Haven, Schuylkill Co., Simon 24 in father's home. Listed as mason with real estate valued at $200. [NA 1850 PA Film 826, p. 214, dwelling 51, family 54]

1852 - Presumably the Simon who with wife Esther sold Schuylkill Co. land 28 Jan 1852.

185_ - Md. 2nd Susan Haines/Haynes b. 1838-9 (census) or 28 Nov 1841 (t.s.)(her death certificate lists her parents as Jacob & Maria (Atto-?) Shehn-?)

1861 - Witnessed brother Benjamin's will on 26 Mar 1861.

1868 - Named in mother's will written 21 Aug 1868, proved 24 Dec 1872.

1870 - Census for Palo Alto 319 Dist., N. Manheim, Schuylkill Co., PA on 2 Aug 1870 lists Simon age 44 farmer, Susanna age 32, Katie 12, Mary 9, Hellie 6, Simon 4, Lidia 2, William 1 month. Simon had real estate valued at $2500 and personal property at $550. [NA 1870 PA Film ____, N. Manheim, Schuylkill Co. p. 8, dwelling 50, family 51]

1880 - Census for Nosedale, North Manheim Twp., Schuylkill Co. PA shows Simon 54 with wife Susanna 41, 7 children and 1 grandchild. The grandchild, Ray age 1, is listed after daughter Catherine age 21 who is listed last on the list of children. [1880 Census Soundex, Ed 208, Sheet 34, Ln. 50]

1885 - Simon d. 16 Dec 1885; bur. New(sic not New) Jerusalem Cem., Berks Co., PA. His t.s. reportedly gives a birth of 23 Jun 1830 which conflicts with both actual birth record and 1880 census. (A letter from desc. Mary Schaffer referred to a t.s. error without any detail) Perhaps the error referred to by Mary Schaffer is that he didn't die until later (see 1894 below).

1894 - To add to the confusion of 1885 (above) administration of the estate of Simon J. DeLong late of the Township of North Manheim, Schuylkill Co., PA was given to Kate Witman on 29 Oct 1894. If this is the same Simon J. then Kate may be his oldest child Catherine. [Schuylkill Co. Administrations Book 14:131] 1916.

1900 - widow Susan living Cressona, Schuylkill Co., PA w/10 year old grandson William Yeancer. Living next door was son William DeLong w/wife Stella & 2 children Gardner (10) & Clara E. (7/12).

1910 - widow Susan still in Cressona w/grandson Wm A. Yencer.

1916 - Susan d. 14 Jan 1916; bur. New(sic not New) Jerusalem Cem. The t.s. reportedly says b. 28 Nov 1841 while 1880 census had made her b. 1838-9.
