Derrick J. Haussner
August 16, 2019

Age 20, of Stillwater, passed away unexpectedly August 16. Derrick was a light in this world whose adventurous spirit could not be contained. His boundless love was expressed at every occasion, whether it be with a huge, warm, tight hug the moment he walked through the door, or ending every conversation with a reminder of, “I love you.” Derrick saw the world for the possibility of what it could be; everything was an opportunity to find fun and adventure. There was no reason to turn down a chance to try something new. He lived life fully and proudly, finding ways to enjoy everything around him while bringing everyone else along for the ride. He was a prankster at heart, and delighted in making his family and friends smile and laugh. Derrick was also a fixer. He did everything he could to lift up those in his life and make sure they were taken care of. “I’ve got it,” might as well have been his catch-phrase. “I’ll take care of it.” He wanted nothing more than to ensure his loved ones were happy and safe; he was always available to help anyone in need, no matter what. His strength appeared infallible. Ultimately, Derrick was able to shield his own pain to the extent that few knew the depth of his own struggles. His departure from this world has been a shock, but it is the faith he carried in him that will carry everyone he loved through this difficult time. God is taking care of Derrick now, as He always has. Derrick and his smile, his hugs, and his love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Derrick is preceded in death by his great-grandmas, Elsie Courteau and Luella Haussner; and uncles, John (Sue) Bistodeau and Steve (Cheryl) Bistodeau. He is survived by his parents, Rick (Shelley) Haussner and Kelly Larson; sister, Ava Haussner; brother, Dakota Rose; grandparents, Robert (Nancy) Haussner, Dennis (Susan) Lockwood, and Scott (Michelle) Larson; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, other family and friends.
