George Yerger, 80, died, surrounded by his family, on Friday, April 19, 2002, at Deaconess Billings Clinic after battling the effects and complications of a stroke he had suffered three years earlier. After his stroke and up until his death, George was cared for at home by his beloved wife. George passed from this life with the same pride and dignity with which he lived it.

George was born on June 4, 1921, in Hardin, to John and Eva (Lackman) Yerger. He was raised on the family farms in the Hardin and Forsyth areas. The family relocated to Shepherd, where George worked the family farm. In 1944, George married Helen Frickel. To this union, three daughters were born. In 1960, George retired from farming and began employment at the Yellowstone Country Shop. He worked on the bridge crew and as a road grader operator for 23 years. He retired in 1983.

George was an enthusiastic gardener, an avid bowler and loved playing pinochle with his family and friends. Above all, George loved and enjoyed his family. Above all, George loved and enjoyed his family. He took special delight in attending all of his grandchildren's sporting events. George was always there for his family.
