Bill was raised in the Black River bottoms and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and just being on the river. He loved the river so much he made it his career choice, being a chief engineer on the river boat. His love for Black River continued throughout his life; always fishing the Black with the “good ole boys”.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; wife of thirty-six years, Carolyn Starling; three brothers, Hershal, Pink, and Calvin Starling; sister, Joyce Grow; and one young brother and two young sisters.
Bill is survived by one brother, Raymond Starling, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; one sister, Ella Higginbotham, of Pocahontas; and many nieces and nephews.
