Son of William T Sharp and Sarah Boyd. He was a farmer in 1863, 1870 and 1880. Married to Katurah Rayburn on Sept. 18, 1856, in Howard Co., Indiana. Their child was Ida M. (b. ~ 1858).
During the Civil War, he served from May to August of 1864 as a private in Co. C, 145th Ohio Infantry, which participated in the defense of Washington, DC, south of the Potomac River along Arlington Heights. In July they helped repulse an attack by the forces of Confederate General Jubal Early.
After his first wife died, he married Catherine "Kate" Clifton on Jan 1, 1867 in Delaware Co, OH. They were the parents of :
