Born Aug. 12, 1932, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Arnold Conwell and Emma Kline Burkhart.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her late husband of more than 40 years, Billie Barnhart; and Nelson Wagner, to whom she was married for 14 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Billie Barney and husband, Pat, of Inwood, W.Va.; three sons, Larry Barnhart of Martinsburg, W.Va., David Barnhart, and wife, Julie, of Hagerstown, and Kerry Barnhart and wife, Genie, of Morgantown, W.Va.; a sister, Delores Cowan and husband, Melvin, of Hagerstown; and seven grandchildren.
Carolyn was known for her beautiful smile and caring personality. She was an office manager at various companies, all while caring for and raising her children. In addition, she was a tireless individual with a busy kitchen, clean house, shiny cars, manicured lawn and a weedless garden. She passed these traits on to her children and grandchildren, which provided memories for a lifetime for all. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling throughout the world and serving the local community with organizations such as Meals on Wheels.
A memorial service will be Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Free Lutheran Church, 21513 Leitersburg-Smithsburg Road, Hagerstown.
Donations in Carolyn's memory may be made to Meals on Wheels of Jefferson County (W.Va.) and Berkeley Senior Services in Martinsburg.
Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
