W.T. Wallen

William Thomas "W.T." Wallen, 84, of Greenville, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at Briarcliff Health Center. Funeral services are at10 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Royce Litchfield and Dr. Robert Webb officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

Mr. Wallen was born July 30, 1921, in Collin County, to William Riley Wallen and Sarah Fronnie Hood. He was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

After more than 20 years of service, Mr. Wallen retired from E-Systems, where he worked as a field, service and accessory mechanic. In 1972, he went to work for the sheriff's office, starting as a jailer and within three years worked his way up as civil deputy, investigator, captain and chief deputy. He was named Officer of the Year by the Greenville Optimist Club in 1976.


He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Booth.
