Maxine Gibson Davies, 86, of Fillmore, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2020 at Mill Pond Health Campus in Greencastle.

Maxine was born on August 20, 1933 to Edward and Letha (Hedge) Gibson in Roachdale. She graduated from Greencastle High School in 1950. Maxine married John A. Davies on June 10, 1956 at Gobin United Methodist Church.

Maxine retired from DePauw University where she worked as a secretary in administration. She also served as the clerk for the town of Fillmore and played a role in getting Fillmore incorporated.

Maxine was involved in local, district, and state levels of the IVFAA. She served as the state president for the IVFAA from 1992-1994. At a district level she served as an officer for several years. Maxine was honored with the Lois Boaz Award in 1989.

Maxine is survived by her husband, John A Davies; a son, Mike (Kim) Davies; a sister, Betty Scaggs; grandchildren, Amanda (Jared) Hutcheson and M. Adam (Heather) Davies; and great grandchildren, Garrett Hutcheson, Hadleigh Hutcheson, Marlee Hutcheson, Atley Davies, Oakley Davies, and Ada Davies.

Preceding her in death, her parents; brothers, Odell Gibson and Edward Jr. Gibson; a sister, Patty Lou Martin; and infant son, Myron James Davies August 26, 1959.

Graveside services will be held at the Fillmore Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2020. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
