Carl W. McCuen, 87, died Sunday, August 12, at Clairemont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Cremation already has taken place. Masonic services also will take place at Fuller-Speckien-Hulke Funeral on Friday, August 24, at 12 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Carl's life will immediately follow the Masonic service. The Rev. Kurt Jacobson from Trinity Lutheran Church will be officiating.

Friends and family may drop by beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday.

Burial will be in Osseo Cemetery at a later date.

Born on March 17, 1920, in Manning, Iowa, Carl graduated from high school in Atlantic, Iowa. After joining the Army Air Corps at age 19, he was stationed in England, where he flew 28 missions as a B-17 navigator on a Flying Fortress. Carl was awarded the Distinguished Flight Cross, Air Medal with Silver Cluster and Purple Heart. Returning stateside, Lt. McCuen married Jean Skogstad on November 7, 1944.

Farmers' Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa was his employer for 36 years, with him retiring in 1983 as their supervisor for the state of Wisconsin. For more than 50 years, Carl belonged to Eau Claire Masonic Lodge 112 as a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason of the valley of Eau Claire.

Carl was predeceased by his parents, Ella Mook and Walter McCuen; his brother, Rea McCuen; and his half-brother, Gary McCuen.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean; daughter, Kathy McCuen of Lisle, Ill.; and granddaughter, Sarah Steele of Washington, D.C.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Parkinson Foundation.
