There appears to be an error in the engraving of Sarah's tombstone. On her tombstone, her date of birth is listed as September 24, 1872. If this was correct, she would have been eleven years old when she gave birth to her first child. In the 1870 census her age was listed as three years.

Mrs. Sarah Peugh, age 89, of Cedartown Route 1, passed away Tuesday afternoon at her residence after an illness of four months. Mrs. Peugh was born in Polk County September 24, 1862 and had lived in this county most of her life. She had been a member of the Friendship Baptist Church for the past 50 years. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Lula Smith, Gainesville, Ga. Mrs. Mollie Cash, Mrs. Ads Sanders and Mrs. Fannie Roberson, all of Cedartown, five sons, Jep Peugh, Rio Vista, Texas; Oscar and Buddy Peugh of Rockmart, Route 1; Luther Peugh, Cedartown and Isaac Peugh, Felton; 37 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Antioch Baptist Church today at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Knight and the Rev. Jim Wright officiating. Interment was in Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Peugh, Herschel Peugh, Gene Peugh, Ivie Cash, Howard Robinson and Junior Sanders. Olin Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
