Great grandad memories/facts told to me by his granddaughter my auntie Ella Thompson.
JT wanted to be a farmer like his dad . Had a very green thumb. He couldn't make a go of it so like many men the coal mines is where he ended up. He did have a big garden behind his home where he grew many things. He loved his garden but like a lot of miners they got ill from lung problems and he was no different. The doctor told him he couldn't work in his garden it was too much. Family believes that's what killed him in the end.
Not being in his beloved garden.
