Mrs. Gaynette Walsh Ashley, 82, of North Wilkesboro, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston Salem, NC. Heaven received a very special Angel. She was born in Wilkes County to the late Chester Allen and Bertha Catherine Church Walsh on November 17, 1937. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband James "Red" Ashley, and sisters, Chessie Taylor and Clara Shepherd.

Gaynette is survived by her three children, Shelly Ashley Vickers (Ricky) of Germanton, NC, James "Mark" Ashley of Millers Creek, NC, and Karen Ashley Lunsford of North Wilkesboro, NC; she also has four grandchildren, Derrick Vickers (Jennifer), Catherine Vickers, Joshua and Jakob Lunsford, and two great grandchildren Jack and Charlotte Vickers. Gaynette is also survived by one sister, Crystal Ann Walsh Martin (Fred) of Springfield, VA. Gaynette had many nieces and nephews across the country whom hold a special place in her heart.

Gaynette's nursing career spanned 43 years, retiring from Wilkes Regional Medical Center in 1998. She was a very loving and caring nurse whom many Wilkes County Residents knew and loved. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Accordius at Wilkesboro for all of the loving and compassionate care they showed to Gaynette over the past ten years. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, June 6th at 2:00pm at Faith Independent Baptist Church, 1714 North Highway 16, Wilkesboro, NC 28697, with Preacher Lane Roark officiating. In lieu of flowers, to honor Gaynette's avid love of animals, contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Wilkes, P.O. Box 306 North Wilkesboro, NC 28659. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
