He was BORN 1/29/1896 and known as Joe. He was a former resident of the Thorndale Comm. having bought the J.W. Jackson farm about 8 miles south of town in 4/1943, previously lived in Waco and 5 yrs. in Hereford before moving to Thorndale where he lived for 25 yrs. and had been living in Austin where he operated a restaurant from 1947 until retirement on 7/1/1965. Member of the Northwest Baptist Church of Austin, veteran of WW-1. Married Miss Stella Jackson on 8/14/1921. Preceded in death by a daughter.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Stella Sheppard; daughter, Mrs. Mildred Peterson of Austin; son, J.W. Sheppard, Jr. of Sarasota, FL.; 3 sisters, Mrs. Bennie Mundine of Tanglewood, Mrs. A.A. Logan, Sr. of Dallas and Mrs. Katy Bell Hanks of Austin and 2 grandsons, Kirk and James Peterson of Austin.
