Laura was born June 7, 1962 in Columbus, KS. Her parents were John A Charles Sr, and June L (Karr) Charles.
As a child, Laura moved with her family from Galena to San Fernando, CA. She earned a BS degree in education after attending San Fernando Mission College and California State North Ridge. She returned to Galena in 1998.
She worked at various jobs, but mainly it was in the data entry field. She was a member of Empire Mission Church, Galena. She enjoyed writing, composing several poems and short stories. She enjoyed genealogy. Her greatest joy was caring for animals of all types.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, John Charles Jr; and her close friend Joey Rodgers.
Surviving is one sister, Julie Ann Hendryx (husband, Melvin), Galena, KS.
Laura was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Derfelt Funeral Home to help offset expenses.
