OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Tuesday, 6 March 1979:
Marie Hendon
Mrs. Marie Hendon, 48, of Route 3, Crockett, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday in Houston County Hospital, Crockett, following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Latexo Baptist Church with the Rev. Glyn Bien and the Rev. Robbie Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Elkhart.
The body will be at Hassell & Foster, Grapeland, until carried to the church.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Hendon was born Jan. 1, 1931 in Logansport, La. And was a daughter of the late Willie Allen and Nora Williams Allen. She had lived in Latexo 16 years and she and her husband operated the Country Market. She was member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Crockett.
Survivors include her husband, Frankie Hendon of Latexo; a daughter: Venita Sue Stanley of Latexo; her mother, Mrs. J. A. Bowers of Crockett; a brother, George Allen of Latexo and a granddaughter, Sherame Leane Stanley of Latexo.
